I am sure you all have seen the Dalmatian print craze that is currently trending. I of course fell in love with the simple yet dramatic appearance of this print because it can be used as a neutral! So on the hunt I went for some wall paper to put behind my bed--low and behold I found some and my grand total came to just under $1000.00 with install. This was not going to happen since I just spent a pretty penny on our new bed and dresser. Then my good friend Rebecca from Petite Party Studio who happens to live down the street from us had the genius idea of plastering fabric to the wall as a wall covering--it turned out fabulous and I knew I had fixed my dalmatian dilemma. So off to Hobby Lobby I went with my 40% off coupon to buy my fabric which came to a whopping grand total of $42.00. Then I went and bought the exact liquid starch that they recommend in their DIY post for $5.00--this turned into the most dramatic, amazing, and CHEAP DIY I have ever done!!! I was also able to do this project all by myself without someone helping--which was a good thing because my husband was not exactly ecstatic when I told him my plan. For my particular wall I used about 9 yards of fabric. I would tack the 1st strip to the ceiling leaving a 1 inch overhang in case the fabric were to shrink once it was drenched in the starch. Then I just started rolling it on with a paint roller. It doesn't dry immediately so if there is wrinkle that sneaks in it is pretty easy to lift and repress down to smooth it out. When I tacked up the next section I put about 1/2 inch overlay on top of the previous section. (Don't worry when it dries you can not see any lines) When it came time to do the ceiling I used an old gift card and pushed the starch into the crease of the wall and ceiling. I let the wall dry 24 hours before I went back with an exact knife and cut off the excess. You can get the original tutorial I used from them on the link above!!! For the record my husband loves the wall now!!! I can not wait to tackle the rest of our room this year.. Stay tuned!
