I really don’t even know where to start when talking about this wedding. This sweet couple flew here from Alaska for amazing weather, and we had the worse wedding weather I have ever had in 14 years. It rained from the time I woke up to when I made the drive home. We rented a tent for the cocktail hour space, and by the time the ceremony started even that area was flooded. We had to quickly make a whole new floor plan for the indoor space that was quite a bit smaller than the area for all the tables and chairs originally with assigned seating and meal choices. The bride was bummed we had to move the reception inside, but said rain or shine she was having the ceremony outside…so we did. 20 minutes before the ceremony started we rushed and set up all the wood chairs, and the guests made their way down umbrellas in tow. We had a plan that if it started pouring I would just run up and hold the umbrella over the bride’s head during the ceremony. Luckily it just sprinkled at that point, and we even had a full rainbow that sprawled out over the site. Another fun thing to add to the rain was we had scheduled to have a local animal shelter come and have puppies available to adopt rather than giving gifts. The puppies were quite the hit, but just another obstacle to overcome with the rain—ha!!! All in all they were married at the end of the day, happy, and partied til 2:30am.
