My daughter, Lola, turned 5 yesterday. She had gone back and forth on what kind of party she wanted for 2 months, but ultimately decided for a Princess Tiana party. The first thing I did was make sure I could get Princess Tiana herself on the day and time that we wanted because you really can't have a princess party without the princess--am I right?!? After securing her in all honestly I did nothing until 3 days prior. I had talked with my favorite girls over at Ruze Cake House about doing a modern spin on the cake, and ordered balloon tape to make the garland and that was it. She was only having 6 little girls and I wanted to keep it pretty simple. The balloon garland was incredibly easy to make, and made such a huge statement for decor. It also was used as a backdrop for all the little girls to pose under with Princess Tiana. For desserts beside the cake we had mini pecan pies and beignets because that is just what you do in the south where the movie takes place. The girls also made some home made comfort food as an activity to play offPrincess Tiana opening a restaurant in the movie. We also had Zydeco music playing in the background to help create a fun atmosphere. That was pretty much it, and I must say the girls all had a blast!!!
